Located in Erbusco, in Lombardy, Cà del Bosco is at the cutting edge of the exciting new wave of Italian wine production. Maurizio Zanella founded the winery in 1968 and dedicated himself to distinguishing the sparkling wines of Franciacorta. In 1995, his dream came true and the sparkling wines of Franciacorta were awarded DOCG status.
As the new DOCG standards required a minimum of two years ageing before release, the first Cà del Bosco Franciacorta DOCG was released on to the international market in 1997.
At the present the estate comprises 150 hectares of vineyards. Between 2006 and 2009, Maurizio Zanella personally supervised the rebuilding of what was already an impressive winemaking facility, into what is now an ultra modern, state of the art winery.
Maurizio works tirelessly to ensure that Franciacorta symbolises a specific type of sparkling wine which is not to be confused with “methode champenoise” or “spumante”.
The excellence of Cà del Bosco has been recognized by Hugh Johnson who stated that Maurizio Zanella is “one of Italy’s best sparkling winemakers”.
Italy’s prestigious Gambero Rosso guide has awarded the winery numerous ”Tre Bicchieri” to date and in 2003, named Cà del Bosco as “ Winery of the Year”.
