99 points Tua Rita Redigaffi 2021

A Super Tuscan favourite for savvy Collectors

Located in Maremma, Tuscany, Tua Rita produces some the most exciting Italian wines for both collectors and wine lovers. It all started in 1984, when Virgilio Bisti and his wife Rita Tua acquired a small estate planted with only 0.5 hectares of Sangiovese. They expanded the vineyards which they planted with Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon and, 10 years later, the first vintage of top cuvee Redigaffi was born. However, it was the 2000 vintage that placed Tua Rita on the international wine map. Awarded 100 points by Robert Parker, Redigaffi was thefirst Italian wine to receive a perfect score from the renowned critic.

The estate now spreads over 57 hectares of vines, all certified organic, planted on gentle slopes composed of stones, rocks, clay, silt, sand and a rich set of mineral microelements. The latter adds ferrous notes and a saline character to the wines which has become Tua Rita’s signature style. In addition to the Bordeaux varieties, Syrah, Sangiovese, Vermentino, Traminer, Riesling, and Ansonica are also grown.
Redigaffi is a 100% Merlot which has been awarded high scores consistently with 2016, 2019 and 2020 showing the highest average points in the last 10 years. The 2021 shows vibrancy and freshness which balances the concentration of fruits and was awarded an impressive 98 points from James Suckling, the first official score available for the latest release. They also produce Giusto dei Notri, their flagship wine, alongside other brilliants Super Tuscans which come highly recommended.

'Tua Rita is one of Tuscany's leading properties... Simply put, the wines are not to be missed' Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

Redigaffi 2021

Wow. The aromas are really something else with red fruits, black olives, spices like cardamon and nutmeg, as well as hints of tar and meat. It’s full-bodied yet in check and focus with fine, fine tannins that roll over the palate and create beautiful motion. Chewy yet silky and endless. A great young merlot and one of the best for a number of years. Try after 2028.99 points James Suckling

Giuso di Notri 2021

Intense aromas of red currants, sweet tobacco, lead pencil, and terra-cotta. Medium to full body with polished tannins that are very well-integrated into the wine. It is racy and long with lovely mocha and subtle fruit at the end. 80% cabernet sauvignon, 10% cabernet franc and 10% merlot. Drink after 2028. - 96 points James Suckling

Keir Syrah 2021

Love the nose with the dried flowers, red beans and red fruits that follow through to a medium body with firm tannins and a crunchy and delicious finish. Just a hint of cappuccino. Made in amphora with whole clusters of grapes and a tiny bit of wood aging for four months. Pure syrah. Drink now or hold. - 95 points James Suckling

Per Sempre 2021

The aromas of red fruits with nutmeg and cinnamon come through clearly as well as notes of light cedar. It’s full-bodied with a tight and focused palate and very, very polished tannins. They feel lightly powdery with good tension before the long and vivid finish. Better after 2027. - 96 points James Suckling
