Concerto 2015 Half Bottles

Castello di Fonterutoli

"Concerto" was born in 1981, as an effect of a viticulture becoming aware of its unexpressed potential, experimenting new training systems and new blends, including also non-autochthonous varietals; it was one of the forerunners and also a major player of the "Super Tuscans" phenomenon.

Rich and juicy, "Concerto" has notes of underbrush and black berries, powerful yet balanced and refined.

"The 2015 Concerto di Fonterutoli is an 80-20 blend of Sangiovese and Cabernet Sauvignon with fruit sourced from the estate's historic Siepi and Fonterutoli vineyards. The wine offers evident muscle and exuberance. These qualities are directly linked to the long and warm growing season that characterized this vintage. The wine feels softly textured and rich in terms of mouthfeel, and it offers a long and attractive succession of dark fruit, spice and tobacco-like aromas." Monica Larner

95 Points Decanter

2015 is big and bold, but like a more refined version of 2011. The oak is less toasty and combines well with intense blackberry and spice aromas and flavours. Bright, fragrant and full of ripe fruit, it has great concentration of exuberant black cherry with vanilla and spice notes, but the tannins are much more refined than in the 2011. In the cellar, the extraction of the tannins was gentler in 2015, and the time on the skins was reduced by two or three days. They also experimented with short ageing in concrete instead of oak at the end of the maturation.

96 Points James Suckling

This is fabulous with blackberry, blueberry and currant aromas. Some slate. Full body, dense and smooth with firm and silky tannins and intense fruit. This is a classic sangiovese and cabernet sauvignon blend. Don't miss it. Needs three or four years to completely come together.
