Hommage a Jacques Perrin
Beaucastel’s Uncompromising Cuvée
Château de Beaucastel is one of the oldest and finest estates in Châteauneuf-du-Pape which has gone from strength to strength since the Perrin family took over the estate in the mid-20th century, consistently receiving high score with critics.
The vines are planted on sandy and limestone soils covered with the typical pebbles of the region. They benefit from the Mistral winds, which protect the vines from excessive heat. Unlike most wineries in Chateauneuf-du-Pape, they use less Grenache and more Mourvèdre for their blend adding more ‘guarrigue’ scents to their wines.
1989 saw the debut release of their flagship wine, Hommage a Jacques Perrin. A truly uncompromising wine, a wine of conviction and character that makes no concessions. Made mostly from very old Mourvedre vines yielding tiny quantities of ripe, concentrated fruit, this cuvee is known for its incredible ageing potential and is only made in the best years. Only 350 cases on average are produced.
Hommage a Jacque Perrin was the first Rhone to be distributed by the Place de Bordeaux and has received the much coveted 100 points from Robert Parker on a few occasions.
